The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is a statutory organization established in 1996 as a Trust Fund under the Protected Areas Conservation Trust Act, No.15 of 1995. PACT contributes to the financing, sourced nationally and internationally, of the Belize National Protected Areas System – a system that is managed by Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Community Based Organizations.
PACT is inviting persons employed by non-governmental organisations involved in conservation and/or protected areas management to apply for sponsorship to attend the following event:
Event Details
Introduction to Botany
Date: November 4th & 5th
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Organizer: Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
Whether you’re a beginner or a professional naturalist, this workshop will equip you with the tools to better understand the plants.
What you’ll learn:
The essence of botany and why it’s important
Plant structures and their functions
Identification of common plant families
Symbiotic relationships and their significance
Documenting plants and preserving specimens

Course cost, which includes lunch and snacks for two days.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be employed by an NGO involved in conservation and/or protected areas management.
Applications must include:
A justification of no more than 200 words, indicating how this workshop will support your work in conservation and/or protected areas management.
A letter of support from the head of your NGO.
Selection
Two applicants will be selected and sponsored to attend the workshop. Successful applicants will be notified on November 1, 2024.
